  • Poughkeepsie Journal Profiles Samuel’s Sweet Shop Ahead Of Anniversary

    John W. Barry of The Poughkeepsie Journal stopped by Samuel’s Sweet Shop ahead of our 25th anniversary.  He visited with manager and co-owner John Traver as well as co-owners Paul, Julie and Andy.  To quote the profile:

    With the old-fashioned charm of a general store and the glamour of Hollywood owners, Samuel’s Sweet Shop has emerged as a destination for devotees of candy and caffeine alike, drawing fans from near and far.

    Samuel’s nearly closed its doors when original owner Ira Gutner died in 2014. But, nearly five years after it was saved by a cadre of celebrities who were avid customers, the shop is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary on April 30.

    Samuel’s co-owner Jeffrey Dean Morgan stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and brought Jimmy a basket of treats!  He explained how important the shop was to his family and the community and how he and others stepped in to keep the shop alive.  Watch the clip below!
